Remote Support Android Devices
My client has several Android tablets in the field. Would be great to be able to install Instant Housecall on them. Bonus points if the process is much the same as it is on Windows: user has an app they tap on and type their problem, which initiates a remote support session. I know Android remote support is a tough nut to crack sometimes but even being able to just view their screen would be great. Maybe just ability to snap and see screenshots on demand would be an amazing help if trying to walk someone through something over the phone.
Supporting Android devices is dependent on the firmware on the device. It’s only available on select firmware. Beyond that, these types of apps aren’t allowed in the Google Play store, which means that you have to walk your customers through the process of allowing uncertified apps. From a support and maintenance perspective, this type of app is extremely challenging.
We’re a small company, and as such, we have to allocate our resources accordingly. In the end, building a better Mac experience is a higher priority than this for a variety of reasons including those that I’ve outlined above. Adding Windows features also take higher priority. So at least until Mac is improved, and probably after that, we do not plan to provide remote support to Android devices. While it is definitely on my radar, I don’t think I can promise it any time soon. I know that’s not the answer you were hoping for. I hope the rationale makes sense, and if you have concerns, feel free to update here or reach out at firstname.lastname@example.org

While like Charlie I also would love to see an Android App, I must agree with Corey that for us at least, streamlining the Mac service and Windows features are a higher priority.

TeamViewer does this on select Android devices and the number has grown since they first started with it.
Best of all it is FREE !

If Amazon and LMI can do this I know it can be done and from a business perspective a simple polling of your customer base could confirm whether or not this would return a respectable ROI if the feature were to be monetized by offering it as an add-on or premium feature.
